Stock Pitch Tutorial
UWFA hosted a tutorial on how to pitch a stock. Those interested in learning about how finance professionals pitch a stock had the opportunity to gain insights on October 8, 2022. The executive team included members with co-op experiences in investment banking, private equity, trading, and more.
Resume Critique
UW Finance hosted a resume critique for individuals applying for jobs in accounting or finance on October 5, 2022. All resume submissions were welcomed, and participants were required to send in their resumes by Tuesday, October 4th. Resumes were reviewed by qualified individuals based on the field of application. Following the critique, participants were allowed a 1-on-1 chat to work on their resumes.
Stock pitch competition
The University of Waterloo Finance Association & hEDGE, along with their partners, hosted its 10th Annual Stock Pitch Competition on November 26th, 2022. The competition was broken into two stages: all teams presented in the first round, and five teams moved to the final round. Teams could consist of 1-4 students.
Intro to valuations
Interested individuals had the opportunity to learn about how finance professionals value businesses through UW Finance Association's Intro to Valuations event on Thursday, July 26, 2022, at 7:00 PM. The event provided insights into various valuation methods, beneficial not only for succeeding in interviews but also as a requirement for breaking into finance-related careers. The executive team, consisting of members with co-op experiences in investment banking, private equity, trading, and more, facilitated the event.
Intro to Excel Modelling
Individuals interested in enhancing their Excel skills had the opportunity to participate in UW Finance Association's Excel Tutorial on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 7:00 PM. The tutorial covered various shortcuts, hotkeys, and other tips commonly used by finance professionals, providing participants with an edge to excel in their finance careers.
Co-op Panel
UWFA hosted its second event of the season on June 22, 2022. Attendees had the opportunity to tune in and learn from upper-year students about their co-op experiences in finance. Registration was required through the Google Form available on the organization's Instagram. The event featured industry professionals, including those from investment banking and private equity.
BMO OFFice Tour
In partnership with the UWFA, BMO Capital Markets hosted an exclusive office tour and networking opportunity at their downtown Toronto office on July 12, 2019. At this event, students had the chance to network with BMO’s Investment Bankers and Sales and Trading professionals during roundtable discussions and trade floor tours.
Stock pitch competition
The UWFA Stock Pitch Competition is an annually held exhibition open to students from all Canadian universities. Delegates were given an opportunity to pitch a buy recommendation for a North American exchange-traded equity to a panel of industry judges! The total prize pool this year was $7000!

UWFA hosted several analysts/associates from CIBC’s Investment Banking Division, specifically from the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and Global Mining groups. The event included presentations on M&A, corporate finance, capital structure, a case study, and more! This event was highly exclusive and successful candidates were invited and had the opportunity to network with industry professionals during the Q&A and networking sessions.
